FIRST HAT

At 7, I already knew I wanted to tell stories. That curiosity led me to earn a degree in Mass Communication, where I learned how powerful words and truth can be.

Student Reporter

I joined ABS-CBN Campus Patrol twice (2018 and 2019) — first as a hard news reporter in my freshman year, then as a news anchor the following year. Hosted by one of the Philippines’ leading media networks, the competition brought together student journalists from schools across Cebu.

We came out first runner-up, but the real highlight was the experience — receiving news assignments in the morning, writing stories, and delivering them live like a real newsroom. For me, it was a dream come true and the spark that cemented my love for storytelling.

Real-Life Reporter

After returning from a short stint in Manila, I planned to focus on our family business — until a surprise call from the Office of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia changed everything.

The governor personally invited me to join her newly formed media arm, Sugbo News, after seeing my work during my internship at the Provincial Information Office. I said yes without hesitation.

For six months (2024), I worked beside the governor — writing stories, doing voiceovers, and covering events across Cebu. I listened in on meetings, traveled to communities, and witnessed firsthand how storytelling connects governance and people.

It was an experience that taught me how to lead with both clarity and empathy — and reminded me how powerful communication can be in public service.
